New to campus and wondering what you can do to be more sustainable at UQ? Here are some simple ideas. Easy peasy.

Using your own refillable cup avoids millions of disposable cups going to landfill each year.

Think local, minimally processed and ethical. Try a meat-free day each week.

Avoid collecting stuff and focus on having items you need or love. Visit one of our UQ Repair Cafe events to fix your own items or see more of our sustainable living tips.

Love to recycle but not sure what goes where? Check out our campus recycling guide or follow the friendly signs on the bins. You  might also like to check out our new re-use and recycling station, where UQ students and staff can drop off all those 'difficult' items like batteries, old laptops and phones, plastic shopping bags, bubble wraps, glasses, toothbrushes and more.

5. Walk, cycle or public transport to uniCartoon cyclist on campus

Not feasible to walk or cycle? Catch public transport to campus, the ultimate ride-share! And don't forget you can also consider using an electronic scooter or bike to help solve your first mile/last mile challenges. You can also hire and use e-scooters on campus.

Our furry and feathered friends can be cute but please don't feed them. Check out our tips for how to protect and enjoy our biodiverse grounds, and what to do and not do around our wildlife on campus.

You should also call for assistance from a carer if you find injured wildlife on campus.
