UQ Sustainability’s Student Green Fund grants open in July for student-led initiatives

UQ Sustainability’s Student Green Fund provides grants for student-led projects that improve the University’s sustainability performance. Projects must either reduce the University’s environmental impacts or improve on education, outreach, or community involvement.

Green Fund Program Grants

  • There is no minimum amount grant amount. However, the maximum grant amount is $1000
  • Applications are accepted from July–September, or until all funds have been allocated for the academic year. All funds must be used within the financial year they are granted.

Applying for a Green Fund Grant

Your Green Fund Grant application should include the following information:

  • Project description

Describe the project and its intended outcome and goals, including criteria for how you will evaluate its success.

  • Project participants

List all project participants and their responsibilities and identify project leaders.

  • Timeline

Outline a timeline with a start date, key milestones, and a completion date.

  • Budget

Applications must include a budget with estimated or actual costs for all supplies and equipment. Attach quotes for equipment and services to the application. Include details of any independent funding secured for the project by the applicants. Also try to estimate the cost savings created by your project.

  • Sponsorship letter

Include a sponsorship letter or letter of support for the project from a relevant department and/or centre (if applicable).

Evaluation criteria

UQ Sustainability evaluates each applications based on the following criteria:

  • Environmental impact (energy savings, emissions reductions, water reductions, etc.)
  • Social impacts
  • Educational and engagement impacts
  • Feasibility
  • Ability to measure success
  • Partnership with UQ schools, faculties or centres,
  • Use of matching funds from other areas
  • Quality of the application.
