Rainwater tank in garden with native plants

UQ has installed over 70 rainwater tanks across its campuses and sites, including the St Lucia, Gatton and Herston campuses, the Indooroopilly Mine, the Dayboro Veterinary Clinic and the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE) at Woolloongabba.

New, sustainably focused University building designs also consider the collection and reuse of water for irrigation and toilet flushing.

In 2016, UQ's total rainwater storage capacity was almost three million litres.
