UQ Sustainability's brand-new student engagement initiative, Green the Team, is up and running! Nine Green Residence Representatives from all four Gatton Halls of Residence will spend 2018 engaging their fellow students in competitions and activities designed to lower water and energy use, reduce waste and raise environmental awareness.
The new reps had their first training session on 20 March, where they learnt about how they can communicate for change, reduce their carbon footprint, develop sustainability initiatives and become sustainable practice leaders.
Over the course of the year, the reps will engage students from their halls in three Green Sprint competitions: water, energy and waste. Students can track their progress online, and the hall that achieves the biggest reduction in each race wins a prize. Reps will also develop key skills in leadership, project management and more.
