On Thursday 13 October, UQ reached a huge solar milestone: the University’s 47,000 solar panels have now generated an impressive total of 20 million kilowatt hours! That’s equivalent to the energy usage of almost 3,500 average Australian homes, or to taking over 7,000 cars off the road.
UQ now has 5.8 megawatts of installed solar capacity across 28 sites—enough to supply up to 20% of its daytime power demand and avoid over 7,750 tonnes of CO2 emissions and $1 million of operating costs every year. The future is renewable! And don't forget that you can check out UQ’s live solar feed at any time to see real-time and historical information about the solar energy generated across all UQ sites.
