UQ's new ITS guidelines are encouraging staff to turn off their computers at least once a week, and it's a measure that could help save energy across the University. The 'Reboot' scheme recommends that UQ staff switch off their computer on a Friday afternoon before they leave for the weekend—not only is it an effective energy efficiency measure, it also saves your computer memory, which helps your machine run faster, and facilitates regular updates, which can better protect your PC from malicious attacks. So consider powering down before you leave the office this Friday—and for more information, visit the ITS website.
