UQ's Green Ambassador Program (GAP) became a hub member under the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN) Youth program.

As a part of this process, the Sustainable Development Goal Manager for GAP, Jayana, completed several training sessions, and has worked hard to establish the University of Queensland as a Hub.

This new Youth hub follows UQ becoming an official signatory to the SDGs.

The SDG Students Program is an initiative of SDSN Youth, the global youth division of the UN SDSN. Their mission is to empower young people globally to create sustainable solutions.

Many students want to contribute to global issues such as climate warming and poverty.

The SDG Students Program, SDSN Youth, aims to engage students in higher education in the global effort to achieve the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as empower them with the knowledge, skills, and pathways to action to be effective agents of change today.

The SDG Students Program are hybrid, virtual, and physical community hubs of learning and local action. These hubs educate university students about the SDGs, and train them into supporters who will carry the importance of sustainability into their future work upon graduation.

UQ’s membership as an SDG Student Hub creates a place for students to bring new ideas and solutions, and to meet friends and colleagues who are committed to making the world a better place.

UQ’s Green Ambassador Programs Sustainable Development Goal Manager is our SDSN Hub Coordinator, and has the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of the United Nations and Sustainable Development Goals through collaboration.
