Paper usage within P&F
We’ve crunched the numbers and since returning to Level 5 Prentice, our old printing habits haven’t returned with us. The printing data shows that we have continued to maintain a 70% reduction in paper use since pre-Covid times.
How do we eliminate printing all together?
- Technology will assist. Laptops, interactive touchscreen monitors and digital tools all allow us to review, mark-up, sign, and share documents without needing a single printout.
- Training will also help. Are you still printing out forms to sign rather than using a digital signature? Do you need to digitize paper based workflows but you don't know how to go about making the changes? Check out the Paperless Best Practices and resources here and if you require further assistance contact Liz Graham.
No amount of technologies and training will solve all our problems though. We need to also focus on our behaviour. Maybe you are printing because it’s just habit or maybe you feel an intrinsic confidence around the piece of paper and its information. We need to challenge our everyday printing practices and ask the question of ourselves and our colleagues, “Why am I printing this?” Becoming aware of your printing behaviours today should spark changes to assist you in working towards a paperless office of tomorrow.
Let’s not forget the drivers for doing so include:
- Reducing waste and conserving our natural resources
- Reducing operational costs
- Regaining time for productivity
- Saving space
- Easing the transfer of information
