Join us at the Ventures Showcase, where we're shining a spotlight on our incredible student and alumni founders. This event is all about inspiration, innovation, and a whole lot of fun!
Get involved Wednesday 21 August, 11am–3pm for a day of festivities, including startup and side-hustle stalls, food trucks, entertainment, activations and more. Celebrate the year that has been and to learn more about the startups who are accelerating ideas to impact.
Meet some of the sustainable startups including:
- Australian Urban Growers: Vertical farmers growing cooler futures together.
- La Foundry: Pioneers transformation of agri-industrial waste into sustainable, bio-based materials, offering scalable, cost-effective alternative to single-use plastics.
- BANANZA: Turning banana waste into delicious snacks.
- Inoya: Creating innovative, sustainable, and non-toxic period care products to improve period experience for all.
- MediBush: Natural skincare that is 100% Indigenous owned and operated.
- Lilo: A managed marketplace to buy and sell modern, gently used furniture online.
- Tera: Building distributed carbon capture systems to convert CO2 into sustainable commodities.
- Morlivly: Founded to restore and up-lift the well-being of society and Mother Earth bu using naturally energising, nutrient-rich, sustainable plants.
- Maggotify: Trannsforming organic waste into high-protein animal feed by rearing black soldier fly lave.
- Mushee: Turning coffee into functional, sustainable products

About UQ Sustainability Week 2024
Sustainability Week is an opportunity for the UQ community to celebrate and promote sustainability across UQ's campuses and sites. From August 19-23, a range of activities and events are hosted across all areas of the University, including markets, workshops, crafts and DIY, film screenings, specialist presentations, tree plantings, bird watching and garden tours, solar tours, forums and panel discussions, competitions and challenges to inspire sustainable behaviours.
