Are you looking to up your cooking skills? To get inspiration for simple, budget-friendly recipes? Or to learn how to avoid food waste and cook & eat more sustainably? Then this event is for you!

UQ Sustainability is hosting a series of hands-on cooking workshops!

At this event we will explore several sustainable food theories, including...

  • “root to stem” cooking - meaning using up the whole vegetable with nothing going to waste. You’d be surprised how much more we can actually eat of a vegetable. This method is not only good for our planet but also saves us money!
  • "smart batch cooking" - meaning pre-cooking food to save time & money without eating the same meal over and over. We will also share some helpful tips & tricks for meal planning and shopping.
  • "love your leftovers" - creative ways to use up your leftover food from your fridge or pantry. We will also share some helpful tips & tricks on how to best store your food to make it last longer, understand labels and get the most out of your money.

Join us for free food and cooking fun in the BBQ area of the UQ St Lucia Community Garden!

Registration essential. We encourage the use of face masks and ask those who show any cold or flu symptoms to stay home.

Can't join in-person but interested in trying it out yourself? Try one of the fun, cheap and sustainable recipes below, or check out our 6 tips for reducing food waste and saving money!
