On Wednesday 17 August, Campbell Place and the Grassy Knoll will be turned into a sustainable living hub featuring some of our wonderful sustainable UQU Clubs and Societies! 

At the Sustainable Living Fair, you’ll be treated to...

Preloved Stall:

  • Time: 9am – 2pm
  • Oxfam’s pop-up thrift shop 'UQPreloved' is all about reducing waste through sustainable consumption. The stall promotes a circular economy, with all clothes donated by student, for students.
  • Hosted by: Oxfam UQ

Sewing Skills Workshop:

  • Time: 12pm start
  • A workshop guiding you through the basics of sewing and empowering you to upcycle and renew your wardrobe. You’ll also learn how to give your garments the power of pockets!
  • Hosted by: UQ Handcraft & Art Club

Repurpose Project:

  • Time: 10am – 2pm
  • Upcycle used fabric into your own unique creation! Bring your friends and de-stress together with this chill scrunchie sewing tutorial. Our Sewing Supporters will be there to assist you whenever you need it. All materials will be provided for you but feel free to bring your own!
  • Hosted by: UQ Refugee Tutoring Club

About UQ Sustainability Week 2022

Sustainability Week is an opportunity for the UQ community to celebrate and promote sustainability across UQ's campuses and sites. From August 15-19, a range of activities and events are hosted across all areas of the University, including markets, workshops, crafts and DIY, film screenings, specialist presentations, tree plantings, bird watching and garden tours, solar tours, forums and panel discussions, competitions and challenges to inspire sustainable behaviours.
