People dressed in costumes as recyclable containers with a 10 cents bannerWant to get savvy about the state of plastic waste and recycling in Queensland? Join UQ Sustainability and the Boomerang Alliance’s Toby Hutcheon for the first Green Labs seminar of 2018.

The Boomerang Alliance is responsible for the successful campaigns to ban plastic bags and introduce container refund schemes in Australia.

Toby’s extensive career in environmental conservation has taken him from grassroots activism to the Queensland Conservation Council, the Boomerang Alliance and Queensland Government advisory committees.

Come along for a discussion about the waste crisis, the plastic bag ban beginning on 1 July in Queensland, the container refund scheme and a proposed government Plastic Pollution Reduction plan.

The reduction of plastic waste doesn’t stop there – a selection of more sustainable lab consumables will be on show at the session to help UQ researchers do their bit to minimise the effect of plastic on the environment.

Morning tea will be provided.
