Due to the changing nature of 2020, all Green Labs and Green Office seminars were held online. However, this allowed for more people to attend, increasing accessibility for those working from home, based in different campuses, or who couldn’t travel. Therefore, we’ll aim to hold more virtual events in the future!

The Green Office and Green Labs seminar for Semester 1 was an online workshop. Run by Folk of all Trades, this workshop focused on indoor plants, which was the winning topic of a staff poll. Participants learned how to care for indoor plants and which species are appropriate for which areas of the house. As the workshop was live, participants could ask questions at any time. This workshop was a collaboration with UQ Unwrapped, an online community aimed at championing UQ businesses that reduce their waste generation and consumption.

During Sustainability Week, the Green Office and Green Labs reps were treated to a native bee workshop. Presented by Dr Tobias Smith, who travels and presents on native bees and bee care, this workshop focused on what bees are within Australia and encouraging native bees to your garden. This workshop had an attendance of 60 people total, with a lively discussion in the Zoom chat.

Thank you to Dr Tobias Smith and Folk of all Trades for offering fantastic workshops to our Green Programs’ reps!
